Common failure symptoms
On the 2.2L BlueHDi platform, a failing Delphi 28657626 injector typically presents as: hard starting or extended cranking; rough or uneven idle; loss of power under load; excess smoke from the exhaust; cylinder misfire or contribution fault codes.
When two or more of these appear together, suspect the injector before peripheral systems — a comparative leak-off test and live-data cylinder-balance review will isolate the failed unit without tear-down.
When two or more symptoms appear together, suspect the injector before peripherals (EGR, glow plugs, turbo). A live-data leak-off test on each cylinder is the fastest route to the failed unit.
What Causes These Injectors To Fail
The documented failure modes on this platform are: injector back-leak beyond specification; nozzle wear degrading the spray pattern; combustion gas leaks past the injector seat washer.
Internal wear cannot be repaired in situ — once delivery drifts outside calibration, remanufacture or replacement is the reliable fix.
How Workshops Diagnose 28657626 Faults
Run a comparative leak-off (back-leak) test across all injectors before condemning a single unit. Compare requested vs actual rail pressure in live data at idle and under load. Inspect injector connectors and wiring before replacing hardware.
Never condemn a common-rail injector on a fault code alone — codes identify the circuit or cylinder, while leak-off volumes and correction values identify the component.
How Every Unit Is Tested Before Despatch
Each remanufactured 28657626 is fully stripped, ultrasonically cleaned and inspected; worn components are replaced with OE-grade parts. The rebuilt unit is then calibrated on a common-rail test bench against the manufacturer's specification sheet — delivery, back-leak and response are all verified before the injector is sealed and despatched with its calibration data on file.
Every unit carries a 12-month parts warranty and free UK delivery.
