Delphi (now part of PHINIA, with BorgWarner heritage in between) is one of the four major common-rail injector manufacturers, fitted across Renault, Nissan, Mercedes, Ford, PSA, Kia/Hyundai, SsangYong and many LCV applications. Delphi's servo-valve solenoid design differs internally from Bosch's, its calibration codes are the well-known C2i and C3i strings, and its failure patterns have their own flavour. Technical Background

Identification comes from the Delphi reference on the injector body — formats vary by era (EJBR..., 28..., R0..., and vehicle-manufacturer references besides), and one injector can be known by several numbers. Cross-reference from the number physically on the unit, not the box label or model lookup.

C2i and C3i are Delphi's individual calibration codes: alphanumeric strings encoding that unit's measured delivery characteristics, printed on the injector head and programmed to the ECU against the cylinder. C3i is the longer, later-generation string carrying more correction data. A remanufactured Delphi injector is issued a fresh code from its post-repair bench measurement — programming the old code defeats the calibration. The exact procedure and specification varies by manufacturer and engine.

Delphi's servo-valve architecture means its wear points and return-flow behaviour are its own — test limits and procedures from Bosch habits do not transfer. Bench testing against Delphi test plans is the definitive assessment, exactly as with every other brand.
