Refurbished Diesel Injectors

A refurbished diesel injector is a used core that has been ultrasonically cleaned, electrically tested, fitted with a new nozzle and seal kit, and re-flowed on a calibration rig until it matches OEM spec. It sits in price between a used injector and a full remanufactured unit, and is the right choice when the rest of your injector set is still mid-life and you only need to bring one back into balance.

Every refurbished injector on this page ships with a printed flow report, the calibration code your ECU will need, and a 12-month workmanship warranty. Free UK delivery, same-day dispatch before 2 pm.

Refurbished vs remanufactured: which one do you actually need?

The two terms are used interchangeably online but in the workshop they describe different products. A refurbished injector typically replaces the nozzle and the seal kit, then re-tests. A remanufactured injector replaces every wear part — nozzle, control valve, ball-seat, springs, copper washer — and recalibrates against the OEM master curve.

Refurbished is the right call when the injector is electrically healthy, the control valve seat is clean, and the unit is simply low on delivery at idle. Remanufactured is the right call when you do not know the service history, or when the core has been through a contaminated-fuel event. We will tell you which one fits your part number before you commit.

The refurbishment process step-by-step

  1. Incoming flow test. The core is run through a baseline test so we know what is wrong before anything is replaced.
  2. Strip and ultrasonic clean. Body, nozzle holder and internals separated; varnish and carbon removed in a multi-stage bath.
  3. New nozzle & sealing kit. OEM-supplier nozzle, all O-rings, the copper sealing washer.
  4. Re-calibration. Flow re-baselined at idle, full-load and pre-injection until it matches OEM spec.
  5. Spray-pattern verification. Full-pressure test, recorded image of the spray.
  6. Code capture. IMA / C2I / QR code printed on the body for ECU programming.

Common scenarios where refurbished is the better choice

Refurbished is the most cost-effective option when:

  • Three of your four injectors are still flowing in-spec on the bench test, and only one is out of balance.
  • A fault code points at a specific cylinder, the rest of the engine is healthy and you want a like-for-like swap rather than a full set.
  • The vehicle has under 100,000 miles and the cores are not yet end-of-life.
  • You want a calibrated, warranted part but cannot justify the full reman premium.

If the engine has covered over 180,000 miles, or if there has been any contaminated-fuel event, choose remanufactured instead — the price difference is recovered the first time you avoid a second strip-down.

Warranty & what is covered

12-month workmanship warranty on every refurbished injector. Covers the components we replaced (nozzle, seals, copper washer) and the calibration we set. Excludes damage from fuel contamination — fit a new fuel filter at the same time, it is the single biggest factor in injector life.

Failure return is paid one way (we cover the inbound shipping). If the bench-retest shows an outside-spec result, the part is replaced or refunded.

Frequently asked questions

What does ‘refurbished diesel injector’ actually mean?

A used injector that has been cleaned, fitted with a new nozzle and seal kit, and recalibrated on a flow rig to OEM spec. It's a lighter process than remanufacturing — which replaces every wear part — and it ships at a lower price point.

Is a refurbished injector cheaper than remanufactured?

Yes, typically 20–35% less than a full reman unit. The trade-off is component scope: refurbished replaces the nozzle and seals; remanufactured replaces the control valve, ball-seat and springs as well.

How long does a refurbished injector last?

Typically 80,000–120,000 miles with clean fuel and a fresh fuel filter. If you are running a high-mileage commercial diesel or the core is over 180,000 miles old, remanufactured is the safer call.

Do refurbished injectors come with a test sheet?

Yes — every refurbished injector ships with a printed flow report showing delivery at idle, full-load and pre-injection, the spray pattern image and the calibration code for ECU programming.

Can I refurbish my own injectors and send them in?

We offer a 'send your own' refurbishment service. Ship the cores, we run incoming flow tests, refurbish where economic and ship back with the test sheet. Cores that are too far gone are quoted for remanufacture instead.

Do you stock refurbished injectors for VW, BMW, Mercedes, Ford?

Yes — common-rail and piezo for VAG (1.6/2.0 TDI), BMW (M57/N47/B47/N57), Mercedes (OM651/OM642), Peugeot/Citroen (DW10/DV6), Ford Transit (2.2/2.4 TDCi) and Toyota (1KD-FTV/2AD-FTV). Use the registration lookup or part-number search to confirm fitment.
