Diesel Injector Remanufacturing
Remanufacturing rebuilds a diesel injector back to its original-equipment specification — every wear part replaced, every flow curve recalibrated against a master rig, every unit tested twice. This guide explains what sets remanufactured injectors apart from rebuilt or used parts, and how we test, calibrate and warranty every injector we ship in the UK.
Used injector
Pulled from a scrap engine. Unknown remaining service life. No warranty.
Rebuilt injector
The failed part swapped, function tested. Other wear parts may still be at end of life.
Remanufactured
Fully stripped, every wear part replaced, recalibrated to OEM flow spec, 12-month warranty.
What is diesel injector remanufacturing?
Remanufacturing is a regulated rebuild process — recognised by the European Parts Industry Association — where a used diesel injector is brought back to the same specification it had on day one. The casing is the only original part that stays; everything subject to wear (nozzle, control valve, armature, seals, stator coil if piezo) is replaced with new OEM-supplier components. The assembled injector is then flow-tested against a master rig and the calibration codes are matched to the new flow curve.
This is the standard the major OEM suppliers — Bosch, Delphi, Denso and Siemens VDO — use for their own service-exchange injectors. We use the same process, the same tooling and the same test rigs.
Rebuilt vs remanufactured: the difference matters
"Rebuilt" and "remanufactured" are often used interchangeably online, but in the trade they mean different things. A rebuilt injector typically has the single failed component swapped (most often the nozzle) and is then bench-tested. Other parts that were running near end of life — the control valve, the seals, the armature spring — stay in. A second failure within months is common.
A remanufactured injector replaces every wear part, regardless of whether it was the part that originally failed. The calibration is then re-baselined to the OEM master curve. This is why a properly remanufactured unit carries the same 12-month warranty a new injector does.
Our testing & calibration process
- Incoming inspection. Visual + electrical resistance check. Cracked nozzles, contaminated bodies and unrepairable cases are rejected at this stage.
- Strip-down & ultrasonic clean. The injector is fully dismantled and run through a multi-stage ultrasonic bath to remove varnish, carbon and metallic debris.
- Wear-part replacement. Nozzle, control valve, ball-seat / piezo stack, springs, O-rings and copper sealing washer all replaced with new OEM-supplier components.
- Calibration on a master rig. Bosch EPS 815 (CRI/CRIN 2.x/3.x), Delphi YDT-385, or Denso EPS 200 — whichever matches the family. Idle, full-load and pre-injection points all set to OEM master values.
- Final test. Spray-pattern check at full pressure, leak-off measurement, electrical timing verification. A printed test sheet ships with each injector.
- IMA / classification coding. Each unit's calibration code is read and supplied so the workshop can write it into the ECU after fitment.
Why remanufactured is safer than used injectors
Used injectors look cheap on eBay until the failure trace runs through them. The risks: invisible internal wear from a previous tank of dirty fuel, calibration drift that throws cylinder balance off without setting a fault code, and a workshop bill to remove them again when one fails. No used part comes with a calibration record or a warranty.
A remanufactured injector ships with a test sheet, IMA code, copper washer and a 12-month warranty. The cost difference per injector is usually £40–£80 against the used part — recovered the first time you avoid a second strip-down.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between rebuilt and remanufactured diesel injectors?
A rebuilt injector usually means the worst-failed parts were swapped and the unit re-tested. A remanufactured injector is fully stripped, every wear part replaced, recalibrated against a master tester and matched back to the OEM flow specification — the same standard a brand-new injector is built to.
How are remanufactured injectors tested?
Every reman injector goes through a Bosch EPS 815 / Delphi STAR / equivalent rig: leak-off at idle, full-load delivery, spray pattern, electrical resistance and pre/post-injection timing. We log the test sheet and ship it with the part.
Is a remanufactured injector safer than a used or rebuilt one?
Yes. A used injector has unknown remaining service life. A 'rebuilt' part may have only the obvious failure fixed. A remanufactured injector is brought back to OEM spec on every internal component and ships with a 12-month warranty.
What warranty comes with a remanufactured injector?
A 12-month, parts-and-labour-on-the-bench warranty. No registration form, no usage caps. Covers manufacturing defects and calibration drift outside spec.
