About the CKVB engine
The CKVB is a 3.0l v6 tdi cr common rail diesel engine. This engine uses Bosch diesel injectors.

Vehicles Using CKVB Engine
| Vehicle | Engine | Years |
|---|---|---|
| Audi A6 / A7 (C7, 4G) injector | 3.0 TDI | 2011–2018 |
| Porsche Cayenne (958) injector | 3.0 Diesel | 2011–2018 |
Common CKVB Injector Problems
Rough idle and engine vibration
Worn injector nozzles cause uneven fuel spray, leading to rough idle at low RPM. Most noticeable when the engine is cold.
Excessive exhaust smoke
Black or blue-grey smoke on acceleration indicates poor fuel atomisation. This is often caused by carbon buildup on the injector nozzle tip.
Poor fuel economy
A worn or leaking injector delivers incorrect fuel quantities, reducing efficiency by 10–20% in severe cases.
Engine misfire under load
Intermittent misfires during acceleration suggest one or more injectors are failing to deliver the correct fuel pressure.
Difficult cold starting
Degraded injector nozzles struggle to atomise fuel at lower cranking pressures, causing extended crank times in cold weather.
Loss of power
Gradual power loss across the rev range, particularly above 2500 RPM, can indicate injector flow rate degradation.
Increased diesel knock
Louder than normal combustion noise, especially at idle, can indicate incorrect injection timing due to worn injector internals.

Engine Intelligence
Audi / VW / Porsche 3.0 V6 TDI (A6/A7 C7, Touareg 7P, Macan, Cayenne — CR piezo)
Documented failure modes
- Piezo injector electrical faults logging group supply-voltage codes
- Injector correction values drifting out of range as the piezo stack ages
- Injector sealing washer leaks allowing combustion blow-by around the injector
Diagnostic guidance
- Compare injector balance / correction values across all six cylinders — an outlier identifies the failing unit
- On group supply-voltage codes, check the injector harness and connectors before replacing hardware
- Check return flow to identify a hydraulically defective injector
- Injector coding is required after fitting — follow the manufacturer procedure
Fitment note: VAG 3.0 V6 TDI injection changed across generations — this CKV/CTB/CVV-era engine takes the 0445117027-type unit, different from earlier CJG-era references; always match the number etched on the injector body.
