Common problems solved by these injectors

About the ENO engine

The ENO is a 2.5l/2.7l/2.8l crd common rail diesel engine. This engine uses Bosch diesel injectors.

How Diesel Injectors Are Remanufactured

Vehicles Using ENO Engine

VehicleEngineYears
Chrysler Voyager (RG) injector 2.5 CRD2001–2007
Jeep Cherokee (KJ) injector 2.5 CRD2001–2008
Jeep Grand Cherokee (WJ/WG) injector 2.7 CRD2001–2004

Common ENO Injector Problems

1

Rough idle and engine vibration

Worn injector nozzles cause uneven fuel spray, leading to rough idle at low RPM. Most noticeable when the engine is cold.

2

Excessive exhaust smoke

Black or blue-grey smoke on acceleration indicates poor fuel atomisation. This is often caused by carbon buildup on the injector nozzle tip.

3

Poor fuel economy

A worn or leaking injector delivers incorrect fuel quantities, reducing efficiency by 10–20% in severe cases.

4

Engine misfire under load

Intermittent misfires during acceleration suggest one or more injectors are failing to deliver the correct fuel pressure.

5

Difficult cold starting

Degraded injector nozzles struggle to atomise fuel at lower cranking pressures, causing extended crank times in cold weather.

6

Loss of power

Gradual power loss across the rev range, particularly above 2500 RPM, can indicate injector flow rate degradation.

7

Increased diesel knock

Louder than normal combustion noise, especially at idle, can indicate incorrect injection timing due to worn injector internals.

Engine Intelligence

Jeep / Chrysler 2.5 & 2.8 CRD (VM Motori)

Documented failure modes

  • Injector back-leak beyond specification causing rail-pressure loss
  • Nozzle wear causing over-fuelling and smoke
  • Electrical connector corrosion logging injector circuit codes

Diagnostic guidance

  • Run a leak-off comparison across all cylinders before condemning a single injector
  • Inspect the injector wiring and connectors for corrosion — common on vehicles used off-road
  • Use new sealing washers and torque the clamps to specification on refit

Fault codes linked to this engine's injectors

Fitment note: The VM Motori CRD family spans 2.5 and 2.8 outputs across Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and Voyager — match the Bosch reference etched on the injector body.
