Common problems solved by these injectors

About the RHA engine

The RHA is a psa 2.0 hdi (dw10 platform) common rail diesel engine. This engine uses Delphi diesel injectors.

Common RHA Injector Problems

1

Rough idle and engine vibration

Worn injector nozzles cause uneven fuel spray, leading to rough idle at low RPM. Most noticeable when the engine is cold.

2

Excessive exhaust smoke

Black or blue-grey smoke on acceleration indicates poor fuel atomisation. This is often caused by carbon buildup on the injector nozzle tip.

3

Poor fuel economy

A worn or leaking injector delivers incorrect fuel quantities, reducing efficiency by 10–20% in severe cases.

4

Engine misfire under load

Intermittent misfires during acceleration suggest one or more injectors are failing to deliver the correct fuel pressure.

5

Difficult cold starting

Degraded injector nozzles struggle to atomise fuel at lower cranking pressures, causing extended crank times in cold weather.

6

Loss of power

Gradual power loss across the rev range, particularly above 2500 RPM, can indicate injector flow rate degradation.

7

Increased diesel knock

Louder than normal combustion noise, especially at idle, can indicate incorrect injection timing due to worn injector internals.

PSA 2.0 HDi 8v (DW10TD / DW10ATED — 206, 306, Partner, Berlingo, Xsara)

Documented failure modes

  • Injector back-leak beyond specification on high-mileage units
  • Nozzle wear causing over-fuelling and smoke
  • Fuel contamination damage on neglected systems

Diagnostic guidance

  • This is an early common-rail platform — verify low-pressure supply and check for air ingress before condemning injectors
  • Run a comparative leak-off test across all four injectors
  • Use new sealing washers on every refit

Fitment note: RHY/RHZ 8-valve engines were fitted with Bosch or Siemens systems depending on build — the systems are not interchangeable. Confirm the etched part number before ordering.
